It can increase the life span and lead to overpopulation, but smoking ban alone isnt enough to cause overpopulation. Better medicines and healthcare has increased the life span too. Plus, there can be newer varients of viruses causing pandemics like the current COVID 19, this may cause the population to be balanced. Though, loss of life is painful, so I suggest bettering sex education and spreading awareness about birth control can help in the longer run.
