There are plenty of software on the market that helps you improving productivity. E.g. Word, because thanks to it you don't have to use a piece of paper and pen to write something down ;). Sounds like a joke, I know. The tools I can highly recommend are time trackers - they let you know clearly how you spend the day and how much time you devote to each activity. The one I use is TimeCamp, packed with productivity tracking and billing.
